  • The Year of The Goat

    Happy Chinese New Year! Like the past years, I made an illustration representing the animal of the year. 2015 is the green wooden goat. I never drew a goat before. But I like how this one turned out. I tried to incorporate some wood and green elements to represent this goat. Also, it’s been a while since I drew something digitally… and it was a very quick one, because I started one night and let the finish touches for the next day. For a person who spent four years touching up an digital drawing, it’s really an improvement.

     

    Feliz Ano Novo Chinês! Como nos outros anos, eu fiz uma ilustração representando o animal do ano. 2015 é o ano da cabra verde de madeira. Eu nunca desenhei uma cabra antes. Mas eu gostei de como essa ficou. Eu tentei incorporar alguns elementos de madeira e verde para representar essa cabra. E também já faz um tempo desde que eu desenhei alguma coisa digitalmente… e foi bem rápido, porque comecei em uma noite e deixei os retoques para o dia seguinte. Para alguém que passou quatro anos retocando uma ilustração digital, é mesmo um progresso.

  • Lost and Found

    A new year. Once again, I challenged myself in Creative Every Day Challenge. An artwork once a month. Last year was an absolute success!

    So, this month the theme is Lost and Found. I made a little illustration for one of my favorite books ever, Pride and Prejudice, by Jane Austen. I think it fits the theme very well. I choose to draw Elizabeth, my favorite Austen heroine, taking a little stroll across the beautiful gardens at Pemberley.

    (yeah, last month I watched for the first time the 1995 P&P minisserie. It’s truly wonderful.)

     

    Um novo ano. Mais uma vez, eu me desafiei no Creative Every Day Challenge. Um desenho, uma vez por mês. O ano passado foi sucesso absoluto!

    Então, o tema desse mês é Lost and Found (Achados e Perdidos). Eu fiz uma pequena ilustração de um dos meus livros favoritos de todos os tempos, Orgulho e Preconceito, da Jane Austen. Eu acho que ele se encaixa no tema muito bem. Eu escolhi desenhar a Elizabeth, a minha heroína de Austen favorita, em um passeio nos lindos jardins de Pemberley.

    (sim, mês passado eu assisti pela primeira vez a minissérie de 1995 de P&P. É realmente maravilhosa.)

  • Festive

    At last, this year Creative Every Day Challenge is complete! But, don’t worry, I liked it so much that I’ll join the challenge in 2015 too.

    I did this one some days ago, but didn’t find time to post. This month’s theme is “Festive”. Nothing says “festive” as christmas decorations. Personally, I like the intricate designs in some of the balls decorations. It’s the inspiration behind this drawing. I used metallic colored pencils, silver and gold, but unfortunately the scan didn’t show them well.

    I’m very, very happy to conclude this challenge successfully. I admit, in the beginning of the year, I had no idea if I would finish a drawing every month, especially because I have such a tumultuous life. At the same time, the challenge made me realize how little I draw if I have no time (because almost always I’m occupied with something that I have to resolve, and not always this thing is pleasant, as find some time to draw). Drawing requires practice, and since I left my art classes, I drew less, and without discipline. This challenge (and Inktober) made me regain my discipline to draw.

    So, until next year!

    Afinal, o Creative Every Day Challenge desse ano está completo!Mas, não se preocupem, eu gostei tanto dele que vou participar do desafio em 2015 também.

    Eu fiz esse desenho uns dias atrás, mas não encontrei tempo para postar. O tema desse mês é “Festive/Festivo”. Nada diz tanto “festivo” como decorações de natal. Pessoalmente, eu gosto dos desenhos intrincados em algumas bolas decorativas. É a inspiração por trás desse desenho. Eu usei lápis de cor metálicos, prata e dourado, mas infelizmente o scan não mostrou eles muito bem.

    Estou muito, muito feliz de concluir esse desafio com sucesso. Eu admito, no começo do ano eu não tinha ideia se eu terminaria um desenho todo mês, especialmente porque eu tenho uma vida assim tão tumultuada. Ao mesmo tempo, o desafio me fez perceber o quão pouco eu desenho se não tenho tempo (porque quase sempre eu estou ocupada com algo que eu tenho que resolver, e nem sempre isso é tão agradável quanto encontrar um tempo para desenhar). Desenho requer prática, e desde que saí das minhas aulas de arte, eu desenhei menos e sem disciplina. Esse desafio (e o Inktober) me fizeram recuperar a minha disciplina para desenhar.

    Então, até ano que vem!
