    My third entry for  Creative Every Day Challenge. I started the sketch in february. I thought  in another things for march’s theme (Transition), but I ended up coming back and finishing this. She’s Melissa, a character from my sister’s book (who always complains that I do not draw anything for her!). In the end, I think she fits with the theme. 😉

    Esse desenho é para a minha terceira participação no  Creative Every Day Challenge. Eu comecei o sketch em fevereiro. Pensei em outras coisas pra o tema do mês de março (Transição), mas acabei voltando e terminando esse. É a Melissa, personagem do livro da minha irmã (que sempre reclama que não desenho nada para ela!). No final, acho que ela combina com o tema. 😉

    My second entry for  Creative Every Day Challenge. (Wow, that was close!)

    The theme is Heart. Well, my classes have begun, so I’m short on time these days. I made a lot of sketches and, in the end, I finished this one. This is Ann Redd, a character from the book that my sister is writing. Ann is a ballerina, and is associated with the Ace of Hearts. So Hearts=Hearts.

    Minha segunda participação no  Creative Every Day Challenge. (Ufa, esse foi em cima da hora!)

    O tema desse mês é Coração. Bom, como as aulas voltaram, eu ando com muito menos tempo. Fiz vários esboços diferentes e acabei terminando esse.  Eu desenhei Ann Redd, uma personagem do livro que minha irmã está escrevendo. Ann é uma bailarina, e é associada com o Ás de Copas. Daí Copas=Heart. 😀

  • The Year of The Horse

    Happy (early) Chinese New Year! The animal of 2014 is the Horse. And what makes this so special to me is that I was born on a horse year too! (the metal horse)

    To tell the truth, I’ve never drawn a horse before. But, my little project of drawing the animal of the year is still on. (I made the Snake and the Dragon before). Not a super realistic horse, though. But my other drawings in the series weren’t either. And because its element is the wood, I made a wooden texture on Photoshop to go with it.

    I did a little poll in my house to determine which version was the best. The one with the red background (as seen above) won. (I also made one just with a bleached old wood.) But the red one was made to resemble the fire, with which the horse is usually associated, in the Chinese symbology. (or so my research told me, heh)

    And again, in a not-so-coincidence, this horse is an artwork of my sister’s character, the horse Knave.

    Feliz Ano Novo Chinês (adiantado!) O animal de 2014 é o Cavalo. E o que torna isso tão especial para mim é que eu também nasci em um ano do cavalo. (o cavalo de metal)

    Para falar a verdade, eu nunca desenhei um cavalo antes. Mas, o meu pequeno projeto de desenhar o animal do ano continua. (eu já fiz a Cobra e o Dragão). Não é um cavalo assim tão realista. Mas meu outros desenhos desta série também não são. E, por ele ser o cavalo de madeira, eu fiz uma textura de madeira no Photoshop para combinar.

    Eu fiz uma pesquisa aqui em casa para determinar qual versão ficou melhor. A de fundo vermelho (como vista aí em cima) ganhou. (Eu também fiz uma com um fundo de madeira esbranquiçada e envelhecida.) Mas o vermelho foi feito para lembrar o fogo, com o qual o cavalo geralmente é associado, na simbologia Chinesa. (bem, foi o que a minha pesquisa disse, heh)

    E, novamente, em uma coincidência-não-tão-concidência, esse cavalo é um artwork de um personagem da minha irmã, o cavalo Knave.

I think my horse fits. I was born on the year of the horse, this year is the horse again which brings hopes for the future. Or something like this. 🙂
