Happy (late) Chinese New Year! As always, I made an illustration to celebrate. This year is the red fire monkey.
I never drew a monkey before. Started this in January, thinking ahead to make it on time. But I was stuck, and left the sketch laying for weeks… and I finished today.
My inspiration for the “fire” monkey was the “Mico-leão-dourado”, a native species of my country. They’re beautiful monkeys, but they are in risk of being extinct.

Feliz Ano Novo Chinês (atrasado)! Como sempre, eu fiz uma ilustração para comemorar. Esse é o ano do macaco vermelho de fogo. Eu nunca desenhei um macaco antes. Comecei em Janeiro, pensando no futuro para terminar em tempo. Mas travei, e deixei o esboço de lado por semanas… e terminei hoje.
Minha inspiração para o macaco foi o Mico-leão-dourado.
